Inspiring & revitalizing underserved communities – one wall, one building, one neighborhood at a time.
Murals for Good is a dedicated group of New Yorkers who believe in the power of public art, education and community engagement to heal our fractured city. We collaborate with artists and community based organizations to inspire and revitalize underserved communities, transform the status quo, and amplify our shared humanity.
Murals for Good will launch the world's first social and environmentally sustainable mural project, using primarily zero VOC, eco-friendly, decarbonizing paint. The project will also support local small businesses and the next generation of entrepreneurs in Chinatown and surrounding neighborhoods.
Green Murals for Good Project aims to strengthen Chinatown as an art and cultural destination for AAPI communities and New Yorkers. Through our commitment to public art as a form of community care, creating visibility and paid opportunities for artists who have historically found difficulty finding infrastructure that supports their work, we promote social and environmental justice, inspire empathy, and create positive change.
Green Murals for Good Project is a community based mural project that will revitalize NYC Chinatown and surrounding neighborhoods through art, education, community engagement events, and environmentally friendly solutions.
This project will showcase a series of murals created by talented artists from diverse backgrounds, each of which tells a unique story of hope, resilience, and empowerment.
The murals will be spread throughout the NYC Chinatown area. All mural artists are welcome with priorities given to artists with a history of advocating for marginalized communities. Artists will be provided with stipends & opportunity to showcase their work on prominent walls throughout NYC Chinatown with full production support..
Stay tuned for more detail.
We are proud to be the first mural project of this scale in the world to use primarily eco-friendly paint technology that not only beautifies our neighborhoods but also serves as an air purifier, absorbing CO2 emissions and pollutants. Our murals are primarily free of VOCs, micro-plastics or any harmful materials, making them safe for the artists, environment and our community.
In addition to murals, our project will also feature an augmented reality (AR) light projection art installation, which will add street lighting and act as a hub for information and community gatherings. We are excited to host various unveiling events and activities, creating new avenues for showing up for each other while showcasing the power of public art to promote healing, empathy, and positive change – an exciting step towards sustainability and keeping our city safe and healthy for our loved ones.
Our artistic process is deeply rooted in community engagement and impact. Our artists and community partners work hand in hand to create murals that amplify and promote social and environmental justice. Through our murals, we aim to make New York City more equitable and inclusive for all. Our community engagement efforts ensure that our murals reflect the values, stories, and histories of the neighborhoods in which they are located. We believe that by working collaboratively, we can create public art that truly represents and celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of our city. With every mural we create, we hope to inspire empathy, spark dialogue, and ultimately promote positive change.
We are a proud winner of NYS Chinatown Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Award working in partnership with Chinatown BID and in collaboration with various other community organizations, including:
